A view of both sides.

Some people take a trip away somewhere, to some hotel or resort.. just to sit under a palm tree ..READING A BOOK. My dad and I realized this when we were in the pool. We looked around to see people just laying in the sun all around us. Almost every person here was a tourist.. who has never really been on the outside of the safe walls surrounding. It makes sense to us, if it's like their honey moon, or a date or something.. but just to sit under a tree and read, and not actually experience the african life and culture.. is nuts. They come all the way across the world..TO SIT UNDER A TREE.They can do that during summertime, why not experience crazy wild things.. have bad experiences and good ones! If they leave their comfort zone, it gives you more of a life and knowledge of what's REALLY going on. We had left a week, just because after a bit it can be overwhelming, with so many things going on.. riots, children who get to the heart, and the poverty.. We just needed to relax, and we had enough of it.. We WANTED to go back to the poverty and crazy life, because that's what makes it a better time here! It's like the tourists really enjoy the life of sunburns and swimming time, with a pretty view.. but they don't really get the time of.. COMING TO AFRICA, seeing the poverty in the streets, the slums, the crying children, the animals, the bucket"showers".. and etc. All they get is a hotel life that they could have back home and some beach trees.. I LOVED the view yes.. but why not go on the outside world for a bit? We just can't comprehend.. WHY .. If you are going to go to a place with all the poverty, you want to get to know the faces and people, and what's happening, not like.. BURN TO CRISP under the sun and maybe swim once a day. Or, go somewhere for two weeks, then take one week as a nice hotel break which would make sense because then you are so thankful for it! :)
I get it ... if it's a vacation maybe, honey moon,but.. just to spend your money on something .. instead of like.. CUTE KIDS WHO HAVE NO BEDS TO SLEEP ON AND NO WATER AND HAVE WORMS.. that's hard to understand after you've seen it all.. I also still just wish people could see outside the walls of life, and actually feel it. To be grateful for what they have and who they have! Because, you never know when you could lose it all. It's so true, that the poor  see so much more in life and are grateful for every tiny thing they may have, yet the rich are blinded by materialism, and speaking words of negativity over the loved ones who really... JUST CARE ! I mean after coming back to this, I would not want to trade this semi-difficult life for a resort life ANY day. These kids need people to love them, and with their excitement of us being back.. Makes me smile :) They just want to feel someone who will be there, and I am ever so thankful i am. I know i'm lucky to be here, because now I have a COMPLETE different view on life, and the people. I love everyone who is in my life, and would never want to trade one bit of it. I dunno how else to say it , but.. I'm falling in love with Africa .. !! <3 And these people.. wow.
